Ron's departure. Ron woken at 4:00am (R time) ready for taxi at 5:00R. Taxi on time and Ron got to Oaxaca airport (OAX) about 5:30R. Boarded and seat A1 on AM2407, departed on time at 6:25R. Asked by flight attendant to help with opening and closing the door.  Arrived at Mexico City (MEX) at 7:30 in terminal 2. Nobody seemed to know where my flight to Dallas left from. Finally got directed to the AirTrain for terminal 1 only to find that it hadn't started yet.  So, outside and find a taxi to get me to terminal 1.  Time now getting very short, and with a long line at check-in, I had to jump the line and get rushed through.  More security at the gate, had to sit down, remove shoes, and raise feet so they could be checked.  Finally on board and away to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) AA2272, seat 30F.  No problem at immigration or Customs, train to terminal for flight to San Francisco (SFO) on AA739 and meet up with Luz.  Unfortunately we did not have assigned seats together (R in 26E and L in 16E (both middle seats), so we our left boarding passes with check-in to try and move us.  No luck and so we were boarding and sitting apart.  Then we struck lucky, the woman in the window seat on the row in front of me had a window seat (25F) and wanted to sit with the woman next to me in 26F, so we changed places.  Then I asked the woman next to me (in 25E) to change with Luz in 16E, and that worked fine, so we flew together to SFO.

Luz's departure. Luz up much later for 10:30L departure from LGA.  Booked a limo to La Guardia (LGA) but couldn't find it outside. A call to the rental company revealed that the limo was a van, and waiting round the corner.  At LGA, Luz had an overweight problem when checking her case, and had to unpack and move some heavy stuff to her carry-on bag.  Finally got through to AA721 departing 10:00amL, and on the way to DFW in window seat 31F.  Got to DFW at 12:55 (Rtime now, -1 hour) before Ron and had something to eat at the gate while waiting.  Ron finally arrived, and we went through the boarding process and seat allocation as described above.  So we flew together to SFO on AA739 in seats 25E and 25F, and arrived SFO at 12:05 (now Pacific time, - another -2 hours).

We then got the courtesy coach to Embassy Suites Burlingame, only to find that we were actually booked into Embassy Suites South San Fransisco.  Burlingame was fully booked that night, but we switched our return booking for 23/24 July from South San Fransisco to Burlingame.  Embassy Suites booked us a taxi from Burlingame to South San Fransisco (at their expense) and we had a Filipino driver who told us much about the Filipino presence in San Fransisco (especially Daly City).  ***Luz to expand here??? ***.  We found the room, with a separate lounge and bedroom, a small kitchen area with a fridge, and we settled in and did a little unpacking before going down to the atrium for the Manager's reception at 5:30pm.  This was a surprise as the place was packed, apparently with many non-residents (it was Saturday night).  The food was nothing special (***what did we have?***), but the drinks and snacks were free - red wine for Ron and white zinfandel and a white sangria for Luz.  Then back up-stairs about 8:00pm for an early night.
