X. Burns.
§ 30. Thomas Mounsey Cunningham.
Thomas Mounsey Cunningham, an elder brother of Allan, is now best known by his Hills o Gallowa, which, when it appeared anonymously, was attributed to Burns, but only echoes some of his mannerisms. In 1797, Cunninghams Hairst Kirn (harvest home) appeared in Brash and Reids Poetry Ancient and Select, and he contributed to Hoggs Forest Minstrel, The Scots Magazine and The Edinburgh Magazine. |
